First, Dr. Zamrini educated the group on the history and also the mission of the Banner Sun Health Research Institute. The mission is to make a difference to patients with age-related disorders. Then, Dr. Beach gave participants a tour of the facility and demonstrated how to spot Alzheimer’s with the naked eye. During the visit, participants learned about research programs including brain and body donation, healthy aging and clinical research.

Age-Related Disorder Prevention

So, can age-related disorders be prevented? Dr. Zamrini says the best prevention for age-related disorders is to live a healthy lifestyle. Additionally, the Alzheimer’s Association recommends 10 ways to love your brain. Below, you’ll find five recommendations.

  • Take a class – education helps reduce the risk of cognitive dementia.
  • Excercise – physical activity reduces the risk of cognitive decline.
  • Get plenty of sleep – lack of sleep may result in problems with memory.
