7:30 – 8:15: How Employers Can Avoid Discrimination in the Hiring, Form I-9 and E-Verify Process by Liza Zamd, Acting Special Litigation Counsel, U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, Immigrant and Employee Rights Section Ms. Liza Zamd, an attorney from the Department of Justice, will discuss common mistakes committed by HR staff that often result in claims of employment discrimination based on citizenship, immigration status and national origin.
8:15 – 8:55: DOL Agency Update and Hot Topics by Nick Fiorello, Assistant District Director Department of Labor (Wage & Hour Division) In this session, Mr. Fiorello will provide an update regarding the legal and enforcement activities at the Wage and Hour Division of U.S. Department of Labor.

9:05 – 9:50: EEOC Agency Update and Hot Topics by Mary Jo O’Neill, Regional Attorney, Phoenix District Office, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission In this session, Ms. O’Neill will provide an update regarding the legal and enforcement activities at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
9:50 – 10:30: Navigating the Unemployment Insurance Program by Jim Sorensen and Lynsey Goins, Arizona Department of Economic Security The Unemployment Insurance Program can be a difficult program to navigate. Mr. Sorensen and Ms. Goins can help! They will be discussing the nuances of Arizona’s Unemployment Insurance laws, including explaining industry best-practices, employers’ common pain points, electronic response options, maintaining lower tax rates, and more.

St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance distributes Emergency Food Boxes, at no cost, to individuals and families in need. A majority of those receiving Emergency Food Boxes includes the elderly, children, working families and the homeless. TruPath is volunteering to pack and sort boxes to distribute to those in need. The TruPath team loves this team building activity that benefits our communities.
