Phone Interview Questions
1) What interests you most about our company?
In order to determine whether a candidate is a good cultural fit for your organization, it is important to see what they know about your company! This question can show you which candidates have done their research and who is truly passionate in your business. Moreover, it is a great way to highlight what separates your company from competitors on a recruiting level.
2) Tell me what you know about this role. What makes you qualified for it?
In addition to once again showing you who has done their research, this question offers a lot of insight into the candidate. Because candidates come from a variety of different backgrounds, they all have different skills to offer you. By analyzing the affinity between their skill set and the skills required of this position, you can determine whether they are fit for the job.
3) What do you value in a workplace?
Before inviting a candidate in for a second interview, it is important to decide whether they are a good cultural fit for your company. Some candidates prefer more modern workplaces with a startup environment, so if your company doesn’t align with that it is crucial to note!
4) How would you describe your communication style?
Different roles require different skills out of candidates! If you are looking for managers or team leaders, this question gives you great insight. Moreover, this question can also determine if a candidate can take lead when required.
5) What is your expected salary?
At first this may seem like loaded for a first interview, but it is very important to ask! If a candidate’s answer aligns with your offer, great! Pass them on to the next interview if they check the rest of your boxes. On the other hand if they are asking well above your offer, they may not consider you down the road.
