7:30 – 8:15: How Employers Can Avoid Discrimination in the Hiring, Form I-9 and E-Verify Process by Liza Zamd, Acting Special Litigation Counsel, U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, Immigrant and Employee Rights Section Ms. Liza Zamd, an attorney from the Department of Justice, will discuss common mistakes committed by HR staff that often result in claims of employment discrimination based on citizenship, immigration status and national origin.

8:15 – 8:55: DOL Agency Update and Hot Topics by Nick Fiorello, Assistant District Director Department of Labor (Wage & Hour Division) In this session, Mr. Fiorello will provide an update regarding the legal and enforcement activities at the Wage and Hour Division of U.S. Department of Labor.
