Recruiting Tips: Staying Productive During the Holidays

The holidays are rapidly approaching. It’s a wonderful time of year, and you may even be wrapping up early for your travels. However, if you are one of the recruiters staying behind, you may find it challenging to stay productive. Here are a few holiday season recruiting tips from the TruPath team.

1. Keep Going

There are many people who will be unavailable, but that doesn’t mean you need to stop recruiting. The holiday season can also mean that previously busy candidates might have time away from work to have that conversation. Be respectful of the holiday’s themselves, of course, but don’t be afraid to reach out. It’s understandable if you need to follow-up in January, and if you are able to connect with those very busy candidates, it’s a plus.

2. Source

If you do find yourself with a lack of appointments on your calendar, take advantage of the quiet time to source. Having a long list of candidates to call when things do pick back up again will give you a big boost in efficiency (especially at a time when a career change might align with some New Year’s resolutions).

3. Read and Reflect

There will be a lot of discussion on hiring trends of the past year as well as predictions for the future. It will be a good time to read and even participate in some of those conversations.

Additionally, you may want to look back on your personal year of recruiting. What did you do that worked? What didn’t work? Where there a lot of opportunities in a certain industry? What roles were especially challenging to fill? This can help you refine your processes or develop a game plan for future opportunities.
