TruPath places a Plant Manager by looking for hard skills and screening for soft skills.
A long-time manufacturing client worked with TruPath to fill an urgent need.
The Client’s Need:
A busy, high-volume manufacturing client in South Carolina found themselves in an interesting and troublesome predicament. While they were experiencing massive growth and success leading to a spike in customer orders and production, they found themselves without a Plant Manager at a time where leadership was crucial. It was imperative that they found a leader who had the hard skills and experience in high-volume manufacturing as well as the ability to quickly build and reinforce a positive company culture and motivate the entire team to move forward for continued success.
The team at TruPath already had a solid understanding of the company and the culture at this particular plant, so the search began with no questions asked. The first step was to align the search with the necessary hard skills. While a Plant Manager at one plant may have may have very similar skills or responsibilities as a Plant Manager at another plant, the type of manufacturing experience can make a big difference in strategy. A Plant Manager from a different industry can get the job done, but in a high pressure situation, it’s nice to have someone who immediately understands the nuances of production. After connecting with several potential candidates who had the experience and background needed to do the job, the recruiters turned their focus to candidate personality, management style, specific experience with team building, and personal knowledge of the geographical area and local culture. Screening is key for finding the right fit. One candidate in particular stood out from the crowd and was quickly introduced to the client and the team in SC.
The Result of Partnership:
After several of the client’s team members met with the candidate, they agreed with the TruPath Team and felt that this was the right person for the job. The candidate had industry relevant experience and connected well with the team and local culture. Having a strong relationship with the client, allowed TruPath to ask the right questions and present the best candidate with the required sense of urgency. The new Plant Manager has been making great strides in team building and supporting production goals. Additionally, he had previously been working away from home and was happy to be closer to his own family in addition to becoming a part of the company family.
